Back yard Gardening for Sustainable food security and Nutritious diets

Backyard gardening for Sustainable food food security and Nutritious diet is a project implemented in 27 villages under GVH Mbeta, Magulu, and Lundu. The project is targeting 500 families to establish backyard gardens with the aim of improving their nutrition uptake. The project is promoting sustainable models of farming where the use of compost manure and sustainable methodologies pesticides management are encouraged where we are going to use neem tree (Azadirachta indica) seeds and leaves as pesticides. This is in line with sustainable foundations for sustainable partnerships funded by EU Erasmus+ project August, 2018.
The strength of this project lies in teaching the communities on how to manage and sustain their own backyard garden. July 2017 STOP THE VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN
In July, 2017 We launched Stop the Violence Campaign with the support of our Volunteer From Germany Ebele. We reached 288 women with a questionnaire to gather information on their knowledge of Gender Based Violence, and to know whether it is happening in their communities. It was discovered that Gender Based Violence is still happening to many women and it is disguised in the name of culture. After questionnaire administration we trained 100 women to increase their knowledge on GBV and increase the response towards GBV in the community. It was nice to see women narrating their stories and showing their commitment to completely eliminate GBV. TOGETHER WE CAN, LETS JOIN HANDS TO STOP THE VIOLENCE!. The initiative had an indirect impact of reaching to 14000 people in the community. Thanks women of Chididi, Thanks Ebele with funding from Baylor Trust.
